HC Simulation specializes in products that provide a high quality simulation of human physiology via the HumMod engine. HumMod allows the user to experience interactions that, might not be easily observable in another capacity.

We bring physiological modeling to users to assist in ideation, development, and prediction of novel medical devices or pharmaceuticals.

HC Simulation provides simulations that build on the physiological model HumMod to generate value to research, regulatory applications, and the classroom.  Simulation allows the user to experience interactions that are not observable in the real world.

 

We Have A Vision

At HC Simulation, our vision is to integrate data and theory into actionable knowledge.

For research and development, this means testing a hypothesis before investing in it​

For regulatory science, this means explaining what you’ve seen and for education, this means developing intuition.

For education, this means providing tools that develop intuition.

What is HumMod?

HumMod is a deterministic physiological model composed of interacting organs and tissues, connected by a circulatory system, nerves, and hormones.

HumMod has 14 organ systems (kidneys, lungs, heart, liver, and more) and can simulate many pathophysiologies, including hypertension, heart failure, COPD, diabetes, and more.

Population variability can be incorporated in HumMod giving representative ranges of response to a variety of treatment or intervention options.

A model of human cardiovascular and renal physiology was developed at UMMC in the laboratories of Arthur Guyton starting in 1972, culminating in a general model of blood pressure control that has guided research and pharmaceutical and medical device development. The initial model was developed by Dr. Thomas Coleman, then a Ph.D. student under Professor Guyton.  Since then, Dr. Coleman has expanded the model (HUMAN in early 1990s followed by QCP in 2005).   The current version of the model, HumMod, is based on QCP and has been in development for about 15 years.  

JustPhysiology is an online learning resource composed of interactive experiments powered by HumMod™.

JustPhysiology invites the student to explore human physiology as never before by pairing an intuitive user interface with a faster-than-real-time mathematical model.

 

This software is designed for use by undergraduate students in biomedical engineering, biology, nursing, and of course, physiology.

ABOUT US

Dr. Robert L. Hester

Robert L. Hester, Ph.D.is CEO and Founder of HC simulation, LLC.  Dr. Hester has a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. He has 35 years of research in integrative physiology and 15 years in physiological simulation. 

 

Dr. William A. Pruett

William A. Pruett, Ph.D. is Chief Science Office of HC Simulation, LLC. Dr. Pruett has a Ph.D. in mathematics.  Dr. Pruett has worked on HumMod development and other physiological simulations for 11 years.
